On Smeg's SEU ceramic cooktops, E2 is a key-protection code. When three or more controls are touched together or held for a long time, often by a pan or a spill, an automatic device turns every zone off and shows E2. Water, a spill or a pan resting on the key strip is ruled out first, then the touch board and its ribbon cable. Take away whatever is resting on the keys and wipe the control area dry. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Why did all four zones on my Smeg ceramic cooktop switch off with E2? E2 on this model shuts every zone at once when keys are held down, for example by a pan pushed onto the controls. Clear the keys and switch back on. ### Is E2 on a Smeg ceramic cooktop about heat? No. On the ceramic models Smeg uses other displays for overheating; E2 is about the keys. ### Can cleaning the keys set E2 on a Smeg SEU304EMTB ceramic cooktop? It can if the cloth presses three or more controls at once or rests on them for a long time.
