Turn the cooking area off, lift the pan away and let the zone cool. ### My Whirlpool cooktop shows F8 during a long simmer. Is something wrong? Probably not. F8 is Whirlpool's sign that a zone ran long enough for the automatic shutoff to step in, so turn it off, let it cool and start it again. ### When is F8 worth a service visit? When it shows after only a few minutes of cooking, or keeps returning after a one-minute breaker reset. That points to the control misjudging time or heat. ### Does F8 turn off the whole Whirlpool cooktop or just one cooking area?
