On a Wolf CE electric cooktop, E5 is a relay error. The relays switch power to the radiant elements, so a relay problem can leave an element dead or unable to switch off cleanly. Turn the breaker off for 30 seconds, then back on, and test each element. If it comes back, it needs a visit. ### Can a relay error keep a Wolf element on? A relay that sticks closed can keep power on an element. If an element will not go off, switch the cooktop off at the breaker and book a visit. ### Why does only one element fail with E5? Each relay serves certain elements, so one failing relay affects only those. The rest of the cooktop may still heat normally. ### Can a breaker reset clear E5 on a Wolf CE electric cooktop for good? A 30-second breaker reset is the only step Wolf lists for E5.
