Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 252-4077

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Bosch's own guidance for dE on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Switch the cooktop's breaker off for 30 seconds, turn it back on, and touch any key on the cooktop within the next three minutes.

02

Before switching the breaker back on, make sure you can reach the cooktop keys within three minutes of restoring power.

03

If dE comes back after that, book a visit; the setting may need to be cleared from the basic settings menu.

Cleared?

The cooktop came right without a new part. If the same message returns while a zone or burner is on, or the top shuts itself down again mid-meal, treat it as a fresh problem and book it.

What not to do

dE is not a dead element or a failed board. The heating parts are simply not being asked to work.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems dE tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A state the cooktop was put in, or one it picked deliberately — a child lock, a demo mode that lights the keys but heats nothing, a residual-heat letter over a zone that is still warm, a prompt that no pan has been found. Nothing has broken and no part is called for.

In Bosch's own words

The demo mode has been activated.

Questions
about dE.

Can I clear dE myself?
Switch the cooktop's breaker off for 30 seconds, turn it back on, and touch any key on the cooktop within the next three minutes.
Why would a new Bosch cooktop arrive in demo mode?
Display units and some installs are left with the demo setting on. The cooktop looks alive, yet nothing heats until the setting is cleared with the breaker reset Bosch describes.
Can dE come back on its own?
It should not after a proper reset. If it returns, the setting is being held somewhere the reset does not reach, and a technician can clear it from the settings menu.
Does dE on a Bosch radiant cooktop behave the same as on a Bosch induction cooktop?
Bosch lists dE for both its electric and its induction cooktops with the same meaning, the demo setting. On either type the display and keys respond while no power reaches the heating parts. The same breaker reset and key touch apply to both.

Still showing dE?

Book with the code copied exactly, the full model number, and whether there is any smell of gas or burning — with a code in hand, that is where the diagnosis starts.
