What the cooktop coil element and receptacle repair
involves.
Coil cooktop element repair covers the open, spiral elements that plug into a terminal block at the back of each position. A coil draws a lot of current, and its two prongs must fit tightly into the receptacle; a loose or corroded fit heats the contacts, blackens the prongs and in time burns the receptacle and the wire behind it. A coil can also crack or blister along its length and then go dead or show one bright spot. The repair tests the coil on its own, then the receptacle and the switch, and replaces coil and receptacle together when the prongs show burn marks, since a new coil in a scorched receptacle soon fails again.
