BlueStar induction cooktop
showing u

A small u on a BlueStar TOUCH induction cooktop means there is no usable cookware on the zone: no pan, a pan that is not induction-compatible, or a base that is too small.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from BlueStar's own guidance for u on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Place an induction-compatible pan, one a magnet sticks to, on the zone.

02

Use a pan with a base large enough for the zone.

03

Book a visit if a known good pan still shows u.

Cleared?

The cooktop came right without a new part. If the same message returns while a zone or burner is on, or the top shuts itself down again mid-meal, treat it as a fresh problem and book it.

What not to do

u is not a failure; the cooktop is waiting for a suitable pan. A capital U can also mean Keep Warm.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems u tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A state the cooktop was put in, or one it picked deliberately — a child lock, a demo mode that lights the keys but heats nothing, a residual-heat letter over a zone that is still warm, a prompt that no pan has been found. Nothing has broken and no part is called for.

Questions
about u.

Can I clear u myself?
Place an induction-compatible pan, one a magnet sticks to, on the zone.
Why does my BlueStar show u when I put a pan down?
The zone does not accept that pan, usually because it is not magnetic or too small.
Is U the same as u on BlueStar?
BlueStar points both to the Keep Warm section as well. A u with no warming set usually means the pan is not recognized.
Can a pan base that is too small cause u on a BlueStar TOUCH induction cooktop?
It can, since BlueStar lists a base diameter that is too small among the reasons for u, along with cookware that is not induction-compatible. Use a pan with a wider magnetic base and try again.

Still showing u?

Book with the code copied exactly, the full model number, and whether there is any smell of gas or burning — with a code in hand, that is where the diagnosis starts.
