What F + number (flashing)
actually means.
GE Profile's induction and radiant cooktop manuals say that when the control detects an error, a code flashes in the display. GE Profile does not list meanings for the codes in those manuals; they are meant for the technician's diagnosis.

What to do when F + number (flashing) shows on the cooktopKind of codeBoards and communication
The touch board and the power board under the glass lost track of each other, or one failed its own start-up check. A power dip, a ribbon or harness pulled loose when the top was fitted, or moisture from a boil-over is ruled out before a board is replaced, and a cooktop that keeps heating while this code shows is switched off at the breaker.
Usually leads toTouch control repair
Glass touch keys and sliders that ignore a finger, start zones by themselves or stay locked, traced to the keys, the control board or the lock setting.
Shows up asCooktop Controls Unresponsive
Touch keys or a slider do nothing, the display lights but ignores every press, or a knob turns without starting its burner or element.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from GE Profile's own guidance for F + number (flashing) on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Record the code exactly as shown.
Switch the breaker off for 30 seconds, then back on.
If the code returns, book a visit and pass the code on.
What not to do
A flashing code on a GE Profile cooktop is not something the manual lets owners decode, so avoid guessing at a part from the number alone. It is also not the blinking power arc, which on GE Profile induction models is a pan-detection prompt rather than a coded error.
What you may
notice with it.
