What the cooktop touch control repair
involves.
Cooktop touch control repair starts by ruling out what the control is designed to do. A lock symbol, a pause, a hot-surface warning or water pooled on the keys will all stop a panel responding and are fixed without parts. When the keys still fail, the cause is on the board under the glass: a capacitive sensor that has drifted, a ribbon cable that has lost contact, or a relay that has welded shut and left a zone running regardless of the setting. The technician reads the stored codes, tests the board's supply and outputs, and replaces the control board or its key panel, which on some models is bonded to the glass and changes with it.

A reseated ribbon cable costs little. A control board lands in the middle, and a key panel bonded to the glass can push the job toward the glass-top row.
