What E
actually means.
A lone E on a BlueStar TOUCH induction cooktop is the malfunction light. BlueStar says it means the electrical system is defective and asks you to turn off or disconnect the cooktop.

What to do when E shows on the cooktopKind of codeBoards and communication
The touch board and the power board under the glass lost track of each other, or one failed its own start-up check. A power dip, a ribbon or harness pulled loose when the top was fitted, or moisture from a boil-over is ruled out before a board is replaced, and a cooktop that keeps heating while this code shows is switched off at the breaker.
Usually leads toTouch control repair
Glass touch keys and sliders that ignore a finger, start zones by themselves or stay locked, traced to the keys, the control board or the lock setting.
Shows up asCooktop Element Not Heating
A coil stays black, a radiant ring under the glass never glows, or a zone warms so weakly that a pot of water will not boil.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from BlueStar's own guidance for E on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Turn the cooktop off and disconnect it at the breaker.
Reconnect once to see whether E clears.
If E returns, leave the power off and book a visit.
What not to do
E alone is not the same as E2 or E8, which have specific, often simple causes. It is BlueStar's malfunction light for a defect in the electrical system.
What you may
notice with it.
The cooktop problems E tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.
