Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 252-4077

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Frigidaire's own guidance for -- on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Center a magnetic pan on the zone.

02

Hold a magnet to the pot base; if it does not cling, switch to a pot that it does.

03

If the dashes stay with a known-good pan and resetting the knob does not help, book a visit.

Cleared?

The cooktop came right without a new part. If the same message returns while a zone or burner is on, or the top shuts itself down again mid-meal, treat it as a fresh problem and book it.

What not to do

The dashes are not an error in the coil. The zone is waiting for cookware of the right material, and it can heat once it finds some.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems -- tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A state the cooktop was put in, or one it picked deliberately — a child lock, a demo mode that lights the keys but heats nothing, a residual-heat letter over a zone that is still warm, a prompt that no pan has been found. Nothing has broken and no part is called for.

In Frigidaire's own words

The Cooking Zone was set, but the pot detection system could not find cookware of the correct material on the Zone.

Questions
about --.

Can I clear -- myself?
Center a magnetic pan on the zone.
Why does my Frigidaire show two dashes with a stainless pot?
Some stainless steel is not magnetic enough for induction. A magnet test on the base tells you.
Do the dashes mean the zone is broken?
Not by themselves. Frigidaire treats them as a request for suitable cookware.
What does Frigidaire mean by cookware of the correct material when the knob shows two dashes?
The pot detection system checks whether the base is a material the induction zone can heat. When it finds none, the display shows two dashes instead of a setting. A magnet test on the base is the quickest way to see whether a pot qualifies.
