All cooktop typesWhat is particular
to BlueStar.
BlueStar's tops divide into open-burner RNB rangetops, Platinum rangetops, X-8 sealed-burner cooktops and the TOUCH induction cooktop (BSP36INDTOUCH). The gas lines share burner and spark parts, while the induction cooktop has its own boards and codes.
Rangetops up to 60 inches
BlueStar builds RNB and Platinum rangetops as wide as 60 inches, with a 12- or 24-inch griddle, charbroiler or French top beside the burners. A wide rangetop means several valves, spark lines and a separate griddle control under one top.
Very low to very high on one burner
BlueStar lists its X-8 sealed burners from 25,000 down to 500 BTU. That wide span depends on clean ports and a well-seated cap, so a simmer that will not hold is often a cleaning or seating issue before it is a valve.
The induction fan runs on
On the TOUCH induction cooktop, the cooling fan keeps running after the cooktop is switched off to protect the electronics, and BlueStar says this is not a failure. An E8 code, by contrast, means the fan's air inlet is blocked.
H, U and II are not failures
The TOUCH display uses letters for normal states: H for a zone still hot, U or u for keep-warm or a missing pan, and II for the Stop and Go pause. Reading these right avoids a visit that was never needed.
Parts
Burner heads, igniters and valves for current gas tops are regular repair parts. Boards for the TOUCH induction cooktop are model-specific and may be ordered after the first visit.
Repair or replace
BlueStar gas tops are simple, serviceable designs, and most problems are an igniter, a valve or a burner that needs cleaning. For the induction cooktop, a failed electrical system (the E code) is where replacement deserves a look.
