What FH
actually means.
Viking lists FH on its Designer electric cooktop as a control error in the EEPROM, the memory the board uses to store its settings. The control stops the elements until the problem clears.

What to do when FH shows on the cooktopKind of codeBoards and communication
The touch board and the power board under the glass lost track of each other, or one failed its own start-up check. A power dip, a ribbon or harness pulled loose when the top was fitted, or moisture from a boil-over is ruled out before a board is replaced, and a cooktop that keeps heating while this code shows is switched off at the breaker.
Usually leads toTouch control repair
Glass touch keys and sliders that ignore a finger, start zones by themselves or stay locked, traced to the keys, the control board or the lock setting.
Shows up asCooktop Controls Unresponsive
Touch keys or a slider do nothing, the display lights but ignores every press, or a knob turns without starting its burner or element.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Viking's own guidance for FH on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Switch the breaker off for a minute and back on.
Book a visit if FH comes back after the reset.
If FH showed up just after a power outage or surge, say so when you book.
What not to do
FH is not caused by anything on the glass or by the cookware. It is internal to the control board.
What you may
notice with it.
