Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 252-4077

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Whirlpool's own guidance for F8 on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the cooking area off, lift the pan away and let the zone cool.

02

Switch the area back on when you are ready to cook again.

03

If F8 appears during normal short cooking, reset the breaker for one minute; if it repeats, book a visit.

Cleared?

The cooktop came right without a new part. If the same message returns while a zone or burner is on, or the top shuts itself down again mid-meal, treat it as a fresh problem and book it.

What not to do

F8 does not mean the element burned out. The shutoff is working as designed; only an F8 during short, normal use points to a control problem.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems F8 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A state the cooktop was put in, or one it picked deliberately — a child lock, a demo mode that lights the keys but heats nothing, a residual-heat letter over a zone that is still warm, a prompt that no pan has been found. Nothing has broken and no part is called for.

In Whirlpool's own words

Questions
about F8.

Can I clear F8 myself?
Turn the cooking area off, lift the pan away and let the zone cool.
My Whirlpool cooktop shows F8 during a long simmer. Is something wrong?
Probably not. F8 is Whirlpool's sign that a zone ran long enough for the automatic shutoff to step in, so turn it off, let it cool and start it again.
When is F8 worth a service visit?
When it shows after only a few minutes of cooking, or keeps returning after a one-minute breaker reset. That points to the control misjudging time or heat.
Does F8 turn off the whole Whirlpool cooktop or just one cooking area?
Whirlpool describes it for a surface cooking area that has been running too long, so the automatic shutoff acts on that area. Switching it off, letting it cool and turning it back on when you are ready is the normal way to carry on.
