What U u
actually means.
U u is Whirlpool's pan-detection prompt on its induction cooktops. It appears when the pot does not suit induction, is off center or is the wrong size for the zone, and the zone turns itself off if nothing suitable arrives within 30 seconds.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Whirlpool's own guidance for U u on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Center a magnetic, flat-bottomed pan on the zone.
Use the zone that best matches the base of the pan.
If U u shows with good cookware in place, book a visit.
Cleared?
The cooktop came right without a new part. If the same message returns while a zone or burner is on, or the top shuts itself down again mid-meal, treat it as a fresh problem and book it.
What not to do
U u is not a broken coil in itself. The zone is waiting for a pan it can heat.
What you may
notice with it.
