Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 252-4077

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Whirlpool's own guidance for PL on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

To reach the setting, restore power and, within 60 seconds, hold the timer + key for at least five seconds until PL shows.

02

Press OK until the current level appears, pick a new one with + and − and confirm with OK.

03

If the cooktop stays weak at the highest limit, book a visit.

Cleared?

The cooktop came right without a new part. If the same message returns while a zone or burner is on, or the top shuts itself down again mid-meal, treat it as a fresh problem and book it.

What not to do

PL is not an error. It is a setup screen, and a low value there explains many slow-boil complaints.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems PL tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A state the cooktop was put in, or one it picked deliberately — a child lock, a demo mode that lights the keys but heats nothing, a residual-heat letter over a zone that is still warm, a prompt that no pan has been found. Nothing has broken and no part is called for.

Questions
about PL.

Can I clear PL myself?
To reach the setting, restore power and, within 60 seconds, hold the timer + key for at least five seconds until PL shows.
Why won't my Whirlpool induction cooktop reach full power?
A low power limit is one cause Whirlpool describes: the PL setting caps the whole cooktop and can hold zones and boost below what you choose.
Does a power outage reset PL on a Whirlpool cooktop?
No. Whirlpool says the chosen level stays in memory through an outage, so you change it on purpose through the PL screen.
Can the PL limit on a Whirlpool induction cooktop hold back the Booster?
It can, and Whirlpool warns that a low power limit can restrict boost functions as well as keep zones under the chosen level. Raising the limit on the PL screen and confirming with OK lifts that restriction.

Still showing PL?

Book with the code copied exactly, the full model number, and whether there is any smell of gas or burning — with a code in hand, that is where the diagnosis starts.
