What F64
actually means.
Maytag's F64 page casts a wide net: the touch control, the power control module, the wiring and the electrical supply. A technician works through them in order, often starting with the voltage reaching the cooktop.

What to do when F64 shows on the cooktopKind of codeBoards and communication
The touch board and the power board under the glass lost track of each other, or one failed its own start-up check. A power dip, a ribbon or harness pulled loose when the top was fitted, or moisture from a boil-over is ruled out before a board is replaced, and a cooktop that keeps heating while this code shows is switched off at the breaker.
Usually leads toTouch control repair
Glass touch keys and sliders that ignore a finger, start zones by themselves or stay locked, traced to the keys, the control board or the lock setting.
Shows up asCooktop Controls Unresponsive
Touch keys or a slider do nothing, the display lights but ignores every press, or a knob turns without starting its burner or element.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Maytag's own guidance for F64 on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Switch the breaker off for one minute and on again.
Watch for the code for a minute.
If F64 persists, book a visit and mention any recent electrical work in the house.
What not to do
F64 is not a cookware problem, and it may not sit inside the cooktop at all. Nor does it single out the touch control, because Maytag's list also takes in the power control module and the wiring.
What you may
notice with it.
