What F8
actually means.
F8 appears when a zone has run a long time with no change to its setting. Thermador turns it off as a safety measure; H or h beside it means the surface is still warm.

What to do when F8 shows on the cooktopKind of codeMode, not a failure
A state the cooktop was put in, or one it picked deliberately — a child lock, a demo mode that lights the keys but heats nothing, a residual-heat letter over a zone that is still warm, a prompt that no pan has been found. Nothing has broken and no part is called for.
Usually leads toNo repair
Touch any control to clear the code and set the zone again.
Shows up asCooktop Element Not Heating
A coil stays black, a radiant ring under the glass never glows, or a zone warms so weakly that a pot of water will not boil.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Thermador's own guidance for F8 on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Touch any control to clear the code and set the zone again.
Treat the zone as hot while H or h is lit beside F8.
Book a visit only if F8 shows up after a short time.
Cleared?
The cooktop came right without a new part. If the same message returns while a zone or burner is on, or the top shuts itself down again mid-meal, treat it as a fresh problem and book it.
What not to do
F8 is not a heating failure. The zone did what it was set to do and then timed out.
What you may
notice with it.
The cooktop problems F8 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.
