Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 252-4077

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Smeg's own guidance for SHO on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Set the Showroom option back to off in the secondary menu; Smeg says the menu opens within two minutes of powering the cooktop.

02

If the two-minute window has passed, switch the cooktop off at the breaker and back on, then open the menu straight away.

03

If you cannot reach the menu or SHO keeps coming back, book a visit.

Cleared?

The cooktop came right without a new part. If the same message returns while a zone or burner is on, or the top shuts itself down again mid-meal, treat it as a fresh problem and book it.

What not to do

SHO does not mean an element or a relay has failed. Nothing heats because the cooktop has been told not to.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems SHO tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A state the cooktop was put in, or one it picked deliberately — a child lock, a demo mode that lights the keys but heats nothing, a residual-heat letter over a zone that is still warm, a prompt that no pan has been found. Nothing has broken and no part is called for.

In Smeg's own words

in this mode, the appliance turns off the heating elements and keeps the control panel active (useful for in-store demonstrations).

Questions
about SHO.

Can I clear SHO myself?
Set the Showroom option back to off in the secondary menu; Smeg says the menu opens within two minutes of powering the cooktop.
Why does my new Smeg ceramic cooktop light up but stay cold?
Look for SHO flashing once a minute. A cooktop left in Showroom mode lights its controls but keeps the elements off until the setting is changed.
How do I leave Showroom mode on a Smeg ceramic cooktop?
Through the secondary menu, opened with the Plus and Minus keys of the first zone within two minutes of powering up. Set option 2 to off and confirm.
What are the other options in the Smeg SEU secondary menu besides Showroom?
Smeg numbers them 1 for automatic control lock, 2 for Showroom and 3 for ECO-logic. Only option 2 keeps the elements cold, so leave the other two as they are when you switch Showroom off.

Still showing SHO?

Book with the code copied exactly, the full model number, and whether there is any smell of gas or burning — with a code in hand, that is where the diagnosis starts.
