Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 252-4077

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Smeg's own guidance for L on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Follow the child lock steps in the Smeg manual to switch it off.

02

Look for the lock symbol on the displays before assuming the cooktop has no power.

03

If the lock will not release, book a visit.

Cleared?

The cooktop came right without a new part. If the same message returns while a zone or burner is on, or the top shuts itself down again mid-meal, treat it as a fresh problem and book it.

What not to do

An L does not mean the cooktop has lost power or failed. The lock is a feature.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems L tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

All problems

No repair indicated

Nothing to repair.

A state the cooktop was put in, or one it picked deliberately — a child lock, a demo mode that lights the keys but heats nothing, a residual-heat letter over a zone that is still warm, a prompt that no pan has been found. Nothing has broken and no part is called for.

Questions
about L.

Can I clear L myself?
Follow the child lock steps in the Smeg manual to switch it off.
Why won't my Smeg induction cooktop turn on a zone after cleaning?
Wiping the controls can set the child lock without you noticing. Check the displays for the lock symbol and release it using the manual's steps.
Can I turn the child lock on with a zone already cooking?
Smeg's steps start with the cooktop on and the zones switched off, so set the lock after you have finished cooking.
Where do I press to set the child lock on a Smeg SIMU330D?
Smeg's first step is to press and hold any cooking zone display, with the cooktop on and all zones off, and then slide along the bar. Once it is set, the displays show the lock symbol and the zones cannot be switched on by mistake.

Still showing L?

Book with the code copied exactly, the full model number, and whether there is any smell of gas or burning — with a code in hand, that is where the diagnosis starts.
