What Er03
actually means.
Er03 is one of the two Smeg induction codes an owner can clear alone. It means materials or a pan are sitting on or around the front control panel, which the touch sensors read as keys being held.

What to do when Er03 shows on the cooktopKind of codeTouch controls and keys
A key on the glass was held down too long, pressed with nothing there, or stopped answering altogether. Water, a spill or a pan resting on the key strip is ruled out first, then the touch board and its ribbon cable. If a zone keeps heating while the keys are dead, switch the cooktop off at the breaker.
Usually leads toTouch control repair
Glass touch keys and sliders that ignore a finger, start zones by themselves or stay locked, traced to the keys, the control board or the lock setting.
Shows up asCooktop Controls Unresponsive
Touch keys or a slider do nothing, the display lights but ignores every press, or a knob turns without starting its burner or element.

Before you book,
in this order.
Each step comes from Smeg's own guidance for Er03 on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.
Lift off whatever is resting near the controls and wipe the panel dry.
While you cook, keep pans on the zones and away from the front control panel.
Switch the cooktop on again; if Er03 keeps coming back, Smeg says to contact technical support, so book a visit.
What not to do
Er03 does not point to a coil or a power board. It is about the control panel being covered.
What you may
notice with it.
