Samsung induction cooktop
showing C1

C1 is Samsung's overheat code: the internal temperature of a zone rose far above normal and the cooktop turned itself off for safety.

Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

or call (844) 252-4077

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from Samsung's own guidance for C1 on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Take the pan off, let the cooktop cool, then restart it.

02

Check that nothing in the cabinet below is blocking air from reaching the underside of the cooktop.

03

If C1 appears again with a normal, filled pan, book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into induction board and coil repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

C1 is not a warning that the surface is merely warm; that is the H or h indicator. Unlike C0, the sensor here is reporting an actual temperature rise, not a broken reading.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems C1 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

Questions
about C1.

Can I clear C1 myself?
Take the pan off, let the cooktop cool, then restart it. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
What makes a Samsung cooktop throw C1?
An empty pan on high, or cooling air that cannot reach the underside, are the usual reasons.
Is C1 dangerous?
The cooktop has already switched off. Let it cool before using it again.
What does Samsung mean by abnormal operation when C1 shuts the NZ30 cooktop off?
The manual says the cooktop overheated because of abnormal operation and that the internal temperature of a zone rose abnormally high. In practice that points to how the zone was being used, such as a pan heating with nothing in it, rather than to a broken part. If C1 still appears with a filled pan at a normal setting, a visit is the next step.

Still showing C1?

Book with the code copied exactly, the full model number, and whether there is any smell of gas or burning — with a code in hand, that is where the diagnosis starts.
