All cooktop typesWhat is particular
to Samsung.
Samsung's current US cooktops are 30-inch gas models (some with a griddle or wok grate), 30- and 36-inch radiant electric models, and 30- and 36-inch induction models. The information code tables in the induction manuals apply to the induction line; the gas manual prints no display codes.
A knob that lifts off the glass
On the NZ30K7880 induction cooktop, one control is a detachable magnetic knob that sits on the glass. A knob that will not respond is often being turned from the side or with an oven mitt, which the manual says will not work.
A flame drawn in light
The same model projects a Virtual Flame onto the pan when the right-hand element is on. The flame is only a light effect, so a missing or broken-up flame points to the pan size or dirt on the glass before it points to a part.
The gas knob light is not a flame check
Samsung's gas cooktops light a knob LED when a burner knob is turned, but the manual says the LED does not show whether the burner is actually lit. You still look for a flame, and a knob left in the Lite position keeps the igniter clicking.
The fan keeps going after dinner
Samsung induction cooktops run an internal fan after use, for about 10 or 20 minutes depending on the internal temperature. A fan that stops early, or the A2 code, needs attention; one that runs for a while after cooking does not.
Parts
Control boards, touch assemblies and induction generators are specific to each model and revision, so the full model number from the label decides what is ordered. Burner caps, grates and knobs are simpler to match.
Repair or replace
A single failed sensor, fan or igniter is usually worth repairing on a cooktop that fits its countertop cutout well. A cracked glass top together with a failed power board on an older unit is the point where replacing the cooktop deserves a serious look.
