Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from ZLINE's own guidance for E1 on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Turn the zone off, move the pan and let the cooktop cool.

02

Check that the pan still has liquid or food in it before you restart the zone.

03

Restart it; if E1 keeps returning in normal cooking, book a visit.

It usually turns into induction board and coil repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

E1 is not the hot-surface warning that stays on after cooking. It is an over-temperature stop during use.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems E1 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

Questions
about E1.

Can I clear E1 myself?
Turn the zone off, move the pan and let the cooktop cool. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why did my ZLINE cooktop show E1 after a pan boiled dry?
An empty pan lets the glass heat far more than usual, and E1 stops the zone. Let it cool and restart.
Could E1 on a ZLINE cooktop come from a bad sensor?
If E1 appears on a cool cooktop with normal cookware, the sensor or its reading is suspect, and a visit is the next step.
Which sensor sets E1 on a ZLINE FCIND cooktop?
E1 comes from the ceramic glass temperature sensor, which watches the glass over the zone. The IGBT sensor behind E2 watches the power electronics instead, so the two codes describe heat in different places.

Still showing E1?

Book with the code copied exactly, the full model number, and whether there is any smell of gas or burning — with a code in hand, that is where the diagnosis starts.
