An induction cooktop lifted out of its counter cutout and turned over on a padded workbench, its bottom cover removed to show round copper coils and the power board beside them.

Three short steps, about a minute.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from ZLINE's own guidance for E4 on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Check the breaker for the cooktop and whether anything else in the home is short of power.

02

Do not open the junction box or touch the supply wiring; a low-voltage problem in the home is work for an electrician with the power off.

03

If the supply looks normal and E4 remains, book a visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into induction board and coil repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

On the older RCIND, E4 is a sensor code, not a voltage code. It is also not an overheating code, so waiting for the glass to cool will not clear it.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems E4 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

Questions
about E4.

Can I clear E4 myself?
Check the breaker for the cooktop and whether anything else in the home is short of power. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does E4 appear on my ZLINE cooktop when the dryer is running?
A heavy load on the same supply can pull the voltage down. If E4 shows only then, have an electrician look at the circuit.
Does E4 on a ZLINE cooktop mean the board is bad?
Not necessarily; the code reports low incoming voltage. The supply is checked first, then the cooktop.
Why does E4 stop only one zone on my ZLINE FCIND cooktop?
ZLINE describes E4 as a zone detecting abnormally low supply voltage, so the code appears with the zone that measured it. If other zones or other appliances also struggle, the supply is the likely cause.

Still showing E4?

Book with the code copied exactly, the full model number, and whether there is any smell of gas or burning — with a code in hand, that is where the diagnosis starts.
