F4 points to the temperature sensor on the main control board for the affected zone, rather than the one under the coil.

Three short steps, about a minute.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from ZLINE's own guidance for F4 on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Reset the cooktop's breaker once.

02

If F4 returns, book a visit and give the zone and code.

03

Leave the affected zone off between the reset and the visit.

Still there?

It usually turns into induction board and coil repair. Book with the code and the model number.

What not to do

F4 is not F3: F3 is the coil sensor, F4 the board sensor, and they lead to different parts. It is also not a pan or power-supply message, so new cookware or a steadier supply will not change it.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems F4 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

Questions
about F4.

Can I clear F4 myself?
Reset the cooktop's breaker once. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Why does the difference between F3 and F4 matter on a ZLINE cooktop?
They name different sensors, one under the coil and one on the control board, so the part a technician brings depends on which you saw.
Is F4 on a ZLINE cooktop dangerous?
The cooktop stops the zone to protect itself. Reset once, and if the code stays, book a visit.
Will F4 on a ZLINE FCIND cooktop go away after cooling?
No, because cooling is ZLINE's answer to the E1 and E2 heat codes, while F4 is a failed sensor on the main control board. A breaker reset is the only home step, and a code that returns needs a visit.

Still showing F4?

Book with the code copied exactly, the full model number, and whether there is any smell of gas or burning — with a code in hand, that is where the diagnosis starts.
