An induction cooktop lifted out of its counter cutout and turned over on a padded workbench, its bottom cover removed to show round copper coils and the power board beside them.

The RCIND lists E7 and E8 as a temperature sensor or IGBT failure, the IGBT being the switch that powers the coil.

Book a visit

Three short steps, about a minute.

Before you book,
in this order.

Each step comes from ZLINE's own guidance for E7/E8 on its cooktops. Follow it to the end: the last card says whether this is a visit.

01

Switch the cooktop off at the breaker.

02

Keep the whole cooktop off, not just the zone that showed the code, until the part has been checked.

03

Book a visit; ZLINE warns against taking the unit apart yourself.

What not to do

E7/E8 is not a supply or pan problem, so checking the breaker or swapping pans will not fix it. It is also not a heat-radiation stop like E6/E9 that clears once the cooktop cools.

What you may
notice with it.

The cooktop problems E7/E8 tends to arrive with. Answer these at the cooktop before anyone is booked.

Questions
about E7/E8.

Can I clear E7/E8 myself?
Switch the cooktop off at the breaker. If it comes back, it needs a visit.
Is E7 on a ZLINE RCIND worth repairing?
Usually, since it points to a sensor or a power component rather than the whole cooktop. A technician confirms which one.
Can I still use the other zones on a ZLINE RCIND with E8?
Because the code can mean a failed power component, keep the cooktop off until it has been checked.
What part does E7 or E8 point to inside a ZLINE RCIND-24?
The manual names either a temperature sensor or the IGBT, the switch that powers the coil. A technician tests both, because the pair of codes does not say which one has failed.
