LG cooktops,
specifically.
LG sells gas, radiant electric and induction cooktops in the US, under the LG, LG Studio and LG Signature names. Its cooktop manuals group the display codes into one line instead of explaining each, so a visit starts with the model and the exact letters on the glass.

Error codesLG's cooktop manuals list their F codes as one group that means the electronic control found a problem, with one step for all of them: turn the cooktop off and on, and book a visit if the code returns.
Book with what the cooktop is doing and the model plate; the visit starts from the symptom.

lineup.
LG builds 3 of the 4 cooktop types this site covers. Which one decides how the visit is planned.

to LG.
LG's US lineup has 24-, 30- and 36-inch gas cooktops, radiant electric cooktops, and induction models from the CBIH series to the Studio CBIS and Signature cooktops. The induction manuals differ on which codes they list, so the model matters before the code.
One line for a whole block of codes
On the CBIH induction models, LG lists sixteen codes from F0 to FE in a single row with one meaning: the electronic control found a problem. Writing down the exact code still matters, because the manual gives no other clue.
A gas flame that goes out keeps flowing
LG's gas cooktop manual warns that gas keeps flowing to a burner whose flame has gone out until the knob is turned to OFF. A burner that will not stay lit is treated as a gas safety problem, not a nuisance.
Pans below a minimum size are ignored
LG's Studio induction manual sets a minimum base of about 5 13/16 inches, with a larger minimum for the flexible zone. A small pan that will not heat is behaving as designed.
Some noises are part of induction
LG lists humming, whistling, crackling and clicking as normal on its induction cooktops, and says the cooling fan runs whenever an element is on. A grinding fan or a zone that cuts out is what needs a look.
Parts
Induction boards and touch panels are matched to the model and its revision suffix. Gas parts such as burner heads, caps and igniters are simpler to source.
Repair or replace
A burner, igniter or fan problem on an LG cooktop is normally repaired. A power board failure on an older induction unit, especially with worn glass, is where comparing a replacement makes sense.
