to Electrolux.
The current US line is the ECCI3068AS and ECCI3668AS induction cooktops, the ECCG3068AS and ECCG3668AS gas cooktops, and the ECCG3672AS gas rangetop. Older Electrolux induction and radiant cooktops are still in homes, but no current radiant model is sold.
Hold the knob after lighting
Electrolux's gas rangetop has a thermocouple on each burner, and the manual asks you to keep the knob pressed for a few seconds after lighting. A burner that dies when you let go usually means the thermocouple has not heated or is not sensing the flame.
Two rings, lit together
Every rangetop burner is a dual-flame type with inner and outer rings. The outer ring cannot light without the inner one, so a burner with only part of its flame points to a clogged port or misplaced cap.
Lit knobs follow the knob, not the flame
The rangetop knobs have LED lights that come on whenever a knob leaves OFF. A glowing knob tells you the valve is open, not that a flame is burning.
Held keys switch the cooktop off
On Electrolux induction cooktops, a key held for more than 10 seconds sets off five tones, then the cooktop switches off. A spill or a resting hand on the controls can cause a shutdown that looks like a failure.
Parts
Thermocouples, igniters and burner parts for the rangetop are model-specific and identified from the serial plate. Induction boards and touch controls are matched to the exact model.
Repair or replace
Ignition and thermocouple work on a rangetop is a routine repair. For an older induction cooktop needing both a control board and new glass, a replacement is worth pricing out.
