Wolf cooktops,
specifically.

Wolf sells gas, induction and electric cooktops, 15-inch modules that line up side by side in one counter, and gas rangetops with a griddle, charbroiler or wok burner option. Its help pages sort display codes by series letters, so CI, CT and CE tops each have their own list.

The Wolf lineup

What is particular
to Wolf.

Wolf's answer pages split its tops into CI and CT induction, CE and CT electric, module cooktops and gas models. Knowing which series is in the counter tells us which code list, board and element parts apply.

Series letters pick the list

Wolf keeps separate code lists for its CI induction, CT induction, CE electric and CT electric cooktops. E4 is a control configuration problem on a CI top but a hot heat sink on a CT top, so we read the model label before we read the code.

Heat trapped in the cabinet

On a CT induction top, F7 means the electronics under the glass passed 158°F, and Wolf's first checks are the installation and the ventilation around the unit. A cooktop set over a closed drawer stack or a cramped cutout runs warmer underneath than one with open airflow.

Modules with their own codes

Wolf's 15-inch module cooktops are set in a row, and each module shows its own two-digit codes, such as E24 for a touch-pad chip problem. A code on one module says nothing about its neighbor, so we test each unit on its own.

Stacked gas burners

Wolf's gas cooktops and rangetops use dual-stacked sealed burners, which pair a strong upper flame with a small lower one for simmering. A burner that simmers poorly but boils well points us at that lower ring and its ports.

Parts

Induction generators, power boards and touch keypads are matched to the series and model number. Some control parts for older CE and CI tops may have to be ordered after the first visit.

Repair or replace

A Wolf top set into custom stone is costly to swap, and most of its problems come down to one board, keypad, sensor or igniter. Replacement is a fair question when an older induction top needs a generator and a keypad at the same time.

Questions about
Wolf cooktops.

Why does my Wolf induction cooktop show F7?
F7 means the electronics under the glass got hotter than 158°F while cooking. Let the top cool, make sure the cabinet below has the airflow the installation calls for, and reset the breaker; if F7 returns, book a visit.
Is E4 the same problem on every Wolf induction cooktop?
No. On a CI series top, Wolf lists E4 as a configuration problem on the control board, while on a CT series top it means the third generator's heat sink is too hot. The series letters on the model label settle which one you have.
My Wolf CI cooktop beeps nonstop and shows 03. What should I do?
Wolf ties this to water or a pan resting on the glass over the controls. Clear and dry the control area, switch the breaker off for 30 seconds and back on, then try again; if the tone and code stay, book a visit.
Can one Wolf module cooktop fail while the others keep working?
Yes. Each 15-inch module has its own controls and reports its own codes, so one module can stop while the gas or induction unit beside it runs normally. We test the affected module and leave the working ones alone.
