DCS cooktops,
specifically.
DCS, aligned with Fisher & Paykel since 2004, now sells only outdoor grills, refrigeration, heaters and storage in the US. Its earlier indoor gas cooktops, such as the 30- and 36-inch drop-in models, are still set into kitchen counters and still come in for burner and ignition work.
Where it sitsDCS no longer sells an indoor cooktop or rangetop in the US; its current site lists outdoor products only.
The DCS US site's menu covers grilling, cooling, heating and storage. Indoor DCS gas cooktops were sold earlier, including the CDU-304 and CDU-365 drop-in models, so the tops we see are discontinued ones. We confirm the model on the label before a visit so parts can be checked.

Error codesDCS gas cooktops show no display codes; the signs to watch are a burner that clicks without lighting, a flame that lifts or turns yellow, or a knob that no longer sets a steady simmer.

What is particular
to DCS.
Indoor DCS cooktops included 30- and 36-inch drop-in gas models (CDU-304 and CDU-365). With the line discontinued, the exact model on the label decides which burner and valve parts can still be found.
Sold only outdoors now
The DCS US site lists grills, outdoor refrigeration, heaters and storage, and no indoor cooking. Any DCS cooktop in a kitchen is a discontinued model, which makes the model plate the first thing we read.
Dual flow burners
DCS drop-in cooktops used sealed Dual Flow burners, which DCS said could both boil fast and hold a gentle simmer on every burner. A burner that loses its low end usually has a problem in the inner flow or its ports.
Made to drop into the counter
The drop-in cooktop was 21 inches deep and designed to sit in the countertop cutout. Removing it for a valve or manifold repair means working around the counter edge and the gas connection below.
No codes to read
These gas tops have no display, so there are no error codes. Diagnosis starts from what you see and hear: the spark, the flame color and how the knob behaves.
Parts
Parts for discontinued DCS cooktops can take time to find, and some may be ordered after the first visit.
Repair or replace
A DCS gas cooktop with a sound manifold and valves is usually worth repairing, because igniters, caps and spark modules are ordinary parts. Replacement becomes a fair question when a needed valve is no longer available.
