JennAir cooktops,
specifically.

JennAir sells gas, radiant electric and induction cooktops, rangetops in 30, 36 and 48 inches, and Custom Cooktops built from gas, griddle and induction pieces. It is the name most tied to downdraft, with cooktops that pull smoke down into the cabinet instead of up to a canopy.

The JennAir lineup

What is particular
to JennAir.

JennAir's help site files cooktops as Electric, Gas and Induction, and its current menu adds Downdraft and Custom Cooktops beside the rangetops. The cooktop type matters because the same F code page can cover electric and induction tops with different parts behind them.

Ventilation at the cooktop

JennAir describes its downdraft as working right at the cooking surface, either built into the cooktop or as a separate strip beside it. The blower, filter and duct under the counter are part of the cooktop call, not a separate appliance.

Ducted or not

JennAir lets a downdraft system be converted to ductless venting for homes that cannot vent outside. Before a visit about weak suction, we ask whether the unit exhausts outdoors or recirculates through a filter.

Induction set by degrees

JennAir induction lets you choose a temperature from 120°F to 400°F instead of a power level, and Bridge joins two elements under a long pan. A zone that holds a number rather than a level is working as designed.

Codes built from two parts

Many JennAir cooktop codes pair an F number with an E number, such as F0E1 or F1E0, and one page may serve both electric and induction tops. JennAir's help site files each code by cooktop type, which is how we match it to the part.

Parts

Downdraft blowers, touch controls and induction boards are model-specific and may be ordered after the first visit. Filters and knobs are usually easier to source.

Repair or replace

A JennAir downdraft cooktop is fitted to a cutout and duct run that another make may not match, which favors repair. Replacement is worth pricing when an older top needs both a control board and a blower.

Questions about
JennAir cooktops.

What does F0E1 mean on a JennAir induction cooktop?
JennAir ties F0E1 to the pan: a pot the zone cannot use, or one too small or off-center. Press the On/Off key twice to clear it, then try a magnetic, flat pan centered on the zone or a different zone.
My JennAir cooktop shows E2 right after I start a zone. Why?
E2 means the electronics got too hot, and JennAir notes that heating an empty pan can set it. Turn the zone off, let the cooktop cool, add food or liquid and restart; book a visit if E2 returns on a normal pan.
Can a JennAir downdraft be vented without an outside duct?
JennAir offers conversion of a downdraft system to ductless venting, which recirculates the air through a filter. We check which setup you have before judging weak suction.
Why does my JennAir cooktop show F4 with a pan on the front zone?
F4 means a pot or pan is too close to the control panel. Move the pan off, center it on its zone, and wait about five minutes for the controls to clear.
